Along the West Coast and... Farewell Australia !! - publié le 08.04.2005
G'day everybody !

Here is my last message from Australia... after about 7 months it's unfortunately time to leave. Sad !! Only 2 days left, and then I fly on Sunday to Bangkok.

I spent my last few weeks along the West Coast, visiting some more interesting sights. As soon as I arrived in Perth from Alice Springs I jumped in a bus to go south to Augusta (I didn't really enjoyed the idea to stay alone too long in this big city), the geographical point where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. The good weather allowed me to spend some nights under the stars on the beach, which was really nice.

Then on the way up back to Perth I stopped in Dunsborough with its nice coastline, in Yallingup (good surfing spot) and in Bunbury where I could meet a couple of dolphins at Koombana Beach. Unfortunately this day was a freezing and rainy one, so I didn't stay very long. I caught then a train to go back to Perth on Saturday the 26th of March.

Once again, unable to keep quiet in one place I left on Monday for a 8-days tour Perth-Exmouth (about 1200 km further North)-Perth. A lot to see in this area as well : a picturesque sunset at the Pinnacles Desert, many gorgeous bays and beaches such as Shark Bay, Shells Beach, Coral Bay, Turquoise Bay (where I had a quick swim with a shark !) without forgetting the well-known Monkey Mia where I saw numerous dolphins. The snorkelling at Ningaloo reef was really worth as well. Colourful corals and fish everywhere.
I also wandered around the Kalburri National Park with its Natures Window and through the Cape Range (next to Exmouth) in the Charles Knife Canyon. Quite impressive.

Back in Perth I'm spending some well-deserved relaxing days between the City and the beaches (Scarborough, Fremantle and Cottesloe Beach) with some friends I met earlier in Australia.

Well, after having travelled around Australia by foot, bike, horse, car, bus and plane, it's now the end of this down-under trip (*sigh*). Useless to mention that I enjoyed it really much !!

Fortunately I still have a little bit more thant 2 months of holidays... destination South-East Asia ! It's soon time to do some washing before packing my backpack, so I leave you there...

:-))
