G'day !
Tomorrow it's already time to leave the biggest City of Australia, the vibrant Sydney !
But before that we saw a lot between on our journey from Brisbane, which was quite intense. After a very nice New Year Eve in Brisbane We leave with Thomas (Cairns' school's friend) to head in direction of Byron Bay (had a look at Surfer Paradise on the way, but it's not so nice with all these skycrapers next to the beach) where we met two other friends form the school. We admired there a beautiful sunset and tried some surf. Good fun !
We left Thomas there and continued we four to Coffs Harbour and Dorrigo National Park for some walks in the forest. Then we drove to Hat Head National Park where we had the nice surprise to see some Kangaroos visiting us next to our tent. The sand dunes there were beautiful and we had the opportunity to do some Sand Surf.
Our next stop was Nelson Bay (nice but too touristic) and then we wanted to reach the Blue Mountains. But at that time we had to face some troubles : first of all one of our tyres blew up at 100 km/h. Fortunately no accident, but we had to change it under the heat and go back about 20km to buy a new tyre, knowing our spare wheel was really old... It cost us 27 dollars, could have been worse !
But the next day, as we stopped to fuel, Josephine began to smoke heavily. We had then to go back also to the nearest town to change a piece because the oil was licking on the exhaust with a risk to catch on fire. Great... Cost us a 130 dollars more, but meantime someone stole Kiri's handbag with her mobile, wallet and film... Too much emotions !
By chance the following days went much better, we discovered the stunning Blue Mounatins with some marvelous walks and then reached Sydney on the 14th. We went to the Opera House to see the Shein Wei Dance Arts Show (modern dance) and visited most of the major sights of Sydney.
Tomorrow Ricki flies back to Germany and we replace her by Thomas for the next week to drive to Melbourne.
Bye !
